This article explores the pedagogical necessity of developing the professional media competence of higher education students, particularly future specialists in folklore and ethnography, in the context of global informatization. Based on a comparative analysis of international declarations, charters, and conventions, the axiological, gnoseological, and praxiological foundations of media education are systematized.
