THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PREPARATORY EXERCISES AND ASSIGNMENTS IN DEVELOPING READING COMPETENCE

Abstract

This article discusses the significance of reading as one of the major types of speech activity in foreign language learning and highlights the practical aspects of preparatory exercises and tasks aimed at developing reading competence. Furthermore, the article analyzes a number of effective exercises and activities recommended for preventing and overcoming various difficulties that may arise during the reading process. It is particularly emphasized that such exercises and tasks not only help develop students’ reading skills, but also increase their interest in classroom activities and enhance their motivation to learn
